‘My casting director and I had to cast a very young leading actress for a major series. After auditions all over Australia, we were left with three actresses. All three were very talented, but had very different qualities. I had the feeling that I needed support to make the right decision. Kate Ellis was recommended to me. After my first meeting with Kate, I realised that I wanted to work with her. Her openness, curiosity and passion for acting are amazing! Kate met with all three actresses, who were aged between 12 and 15 at the time. They worked together on the character without pre-empting my later directing work. In just a few sessions, she was able to build up a relationship of trust with the young women - and recognise and expand their potential.
